The state of forests globally is monitored by satellites that provide data useful for understanding the phenomena at work, which we cannot pretend to ignore today: although there has been a slowdown in the annual rate of forest loss, forests have a negative balance (10.9 million hectares less per year compared to a forest expansion rate of 6.78 million hectares per year); on the other hand, forests managed with long-term plans are increasing, confirming the importance of establishing protected areas.
This is why the Xiloteca Trevigiana has, where possible, indicated the threats and risks documented by the IUCN and CITES, in order to help companies that want to operate legally and not aggravate the negative impact on natural populations.
The most authoritative and up-to-date data on the state of the world’s forests comes mainly from the FAO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, which publishes the biennial report “The State of the World’s Forests (SOFO)” and, every 10 years, the Global Forest Resources Assessment (FRA). There are also other sources, such as the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the Global Forest Watch (GFW) platform. The data is useful for a variety of purposes, including informing the global community and supporting decisions and investments related to the timber industry and numerous ecosystem services.

Wood is a fundamental natural raw material that requires careful choices to ensure its long-term availability in the wide variety that derives from the planet’s…

["post-10473","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry

Xiloteca Trevigiana, our sustainable digital wood collection

<meta name="description" content="Xiloteca Trevigiana.
