Chlorocardium rodiei
It is a tree that reaches 40 meters in height and 1 meter in diameter, with grayish-brown bark and simple, alternate, glossy leaves, mucronate at the apex. The small white flowers are borne in axillary racemes. The fruit is a fleshy drupe.
Central and South America: Bahamas, Brazil, Cuba, Dominican Republic, French Guiana, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Suriname, Venezuela; cultivated in Oceania and Southeast Asia.
It lives mainly in lowland rainforests, on sandy substrates.
It is used for hydraulic and maritime works, machine parts, shipbuilding, staves for chemical containers, turning, and various tools.
Excessive withdrawal.
Conservation is only possible if the harvest becomes sustainable with the ecology of the species, given that it regenerates very slowly.
